ExxonMobil Donates Personal Protective Equipment to CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Foundation
Donation to Benefit All CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Healthcare Workers
September 7, 2021
Beaumont, TX – CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Foundation graciously accepted a significant personal protective equipment (PPE) donation from ExxonMobil. This generous donation included nearly 65,000 masks, along with gloves, disinfectant spray, and thermometers.
At a time when COVID is once again surging and affecting healthcare workers and healthcare resources, this donation is especially meaningful, providing a morale boost to our dedicated and hard-working Associates. Nakisha Burns, Public and Government Affairs Manager at ExxonMobil, led the donation drop and spoke with members of our Infection Prevention and Quality Improvement team, as they were opening up donation boxes and planning how to quickly disperse to all teams.
“This donation is so meaningful in so many ways. It includes items that are currently difficult to procure, like disposable thermometers and spray bottles,” says Karie Singleton, RN, Infection Preventionist at CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth. “The N95 masks have a built-in nose protection to prevent skin breakdown that so many healthcare workers are struggling with, and the gator masks are fun! With the camo prints, some of our non-clinical Associates will be sporting them around the building. Each item will have a special place and a special meaning in our ability to care for our community. Thank you ExxonMobil for the generous donation.”
Teri Hawthorne, CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Foundation Executive Director, also spoke words of appreciation, saying, “On behalf of the CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Foundation, our SETX CHRISTUS hospitals, and all of our clinical workers who have been incredibly steadfast and compassionate throughout the pandemic, we say thank you to ExxonMobil.”
