Those with a CHRISTUS NICU miracle baby are invited to join in the sharing fun-July 18!

Shreveport, Louisiana – With ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System will again recognize its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit graduates at CHRISTUS Highland Medical Center, the region’s only Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, virtually through social media instead of an in-person celebration. Starting Monday, July 12, a social media takeover featuring an inside look into the NICU through stories and imagery will be used to raise awareness of the services and care provided for the families and miracle babies who are to be celebrated.
“As a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, the CHRISTUS NICU is one of our signature programs serving our smallest and most vulnerable patients,” said Christy Bailey, Clinical Director, CHRISTUS Highland NICU. “We want these families and little ones born prematurely to know what an honor it is to be a part of their growth, accomplishments, and milestones. We are so proud to have been a part from each child’s beginning.”
The virtual NICU Reunion week culminates Sunday, July 18, with an invitation for families to share their NICU reflections. Organizers ask families who had a baby in the NICU at CHRISTUS Schumpert through 2014, or at CHRISTUS Highland since 2015 through to today, to participate by posting images including “then & now” pics, and sharing stories and memories on the CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Facebook Reunion Event page, https://fb.me/e/1v850j2gh.
“CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System is honored to be the first home of so many ‘miracle babies,’ who have overcome the odds of prematurity,” said Steen Trawick, M.D., Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer, CHRISTUS Shreveport Bossier Health System. “Because of the pandemic, our recognition continues to look and feel a bit different, but our commitment to these tiny miracles remains. This is an opportunity for us to get an update on the babies we’ve cared for in the NICU and celebrate all of their miracle milestones since.”
It doesn’t matter for families if their miracle baby was in the NICU for one day or 100 days, it is important for them to understand they’re part of the CHRISTUS NICU family and will always be special!
