CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital -Winnsboro Awards $3,000 to the Winnsboro Food Pantry to Provide 150 Families with a Thanksgiving Meal

Sulphur Springs, Texas

Winnsboro Food PantryOctober 24, 2022 – CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital-Winnsboro is proud to support fellow local organizations that are responding to the needs of our community. This year, $3,000 was awarded to Winnsboro Community Resource Center and Food Pantry (WCRC). The organization helps reduce food insecurity and supplies supplemental food to help those in need.

“It is important that we remain committed to partnering with and supporting programs that align with our core values. WCRC certainly fits that bill, honoring the dignity of every person it serves,” explained Paul Harvey, President and CEO, of CHRISTUS Mother Frances Sulphur Springs and Winnsboro. “This monetary gift is another way to contribute to the overall health of this region beyond our hospital walls.”

This idea was born out of a desire to volunteer and get out and do more following COVID restrictions within the Winnsboro community. A meeting with Ray Richter, WCRC’s Executive Director, shed light on a current need to raise $2,600 to pay for 150 families to have Thanksgiving meals.

“We are committed to improving health and well-being of our communities. I felt like we could help by covering the cost of the Thanksgiving meals in addition to providing volunteers and holding our own food drive,” said Harvey.

Nearly a month away from Thanksgiving, CHRISTUS Mother Frances Winnsboro leaders and Associates presented a check to the Winnsboro Food Pantry. The WCRC Board of Directors was present and other community members. Richter and his team of volunteers were on hand as well.

“They said it was an answered prayer,” recalled Harvey. “They all have been volunteering there for years. We are so happy to be able to fulfill this need as part of our mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.”
