CHRISTUS Health is proud to announce the distribution of more than $3.3 million to 47 non-profit organizations across Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico through the CHRISTUS Community Impact Fund. Four groups in southeast Texas received funds collectively totaling $295,000.

Selected organizations receive the funds for programs addressing critical social determinants of health in the communities they serve. Priority issues include mental health and well-being and food insecurity. The organizations in southeast Texas are:

  • Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas
  • Family Services of Southeast Texas
  • Samaritan Counseling Center of Southeast Texas
  • United Board of Missions

“Our core values and mission are what make CHRISTUS stand out in the community,” said Paul Trevino, chief executive officer for CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System. “This fund helps so many people who are in need and it further illustrates the investment we are making into the community, as we fulfill our mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.”

The CHRISTUS Community Impact Fund launched in 2011 and is a CHRISTUS-wide system initiative supporting programs led by local organizations responding to the needs of the community and improving its health and well-being. CHRISTUS Health has invested more than $22 million in the communities it serves.

“We saw a need for support within local CHRISTUS communities and knew we had to create more ways to contribute and collaborate with local organizations beyond community benefit dollars,” said Jessica Guerra, CHRISTUS Health program manager for community development. “This fund allows us to invest in the programs helping to improve our communities.”
