CHRISTUS St. Vincent Welcomes Breast Surgeon Amani Jambhekar, MD, MBA

Santa Fe, New Mexico, December 19, 2023 — CHRISTUS St. Vincent is pleased to announce that Amani Jambhekar, MD, will join the CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Cancer Services team in January 2024.

Dr. Jambhekar is a highly skilled and compassionate surgical breast oncologist who is committed to providing comprehensive and personalized care. Dr. Jambhekar will begin accepting new patients in January 2024. Her expertise in breast health and surgical interventions will address a critical need within our community, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care close to home.

Dr. Jambhekar is a Board Certified Surgeon who brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to advancing breast health access and care. Dr. Jambhekar earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Cell and Molecular Biology at Tulane University, New Orleans, LA. She then earned her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in San Antonio, TX.

Dr. Jambhekar completed her Residency in General Surgery at the New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn, NY. She also completed a Fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology at Columbia University Medical Center, New York, NY.

She also earned a Master of Business Administration from the Kelley School of Business, Bloomington, IN. During that time, she was named one of top 20 graduates in the country.

"I am excited to join CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Cancer Center, and I look forward to contributing to the health and wellness of our community by expanding our breast health services,” said Dr. Jambhekar. “My goal is to provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients, empowering them to make informed decisions about their health.”

In her role, Dr. Jambhekar will lead the collaborative efforts of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare providers to ensure that patients receive a comprehensive care plan tailored to their unique needs. CHRISTUS St. Vincent remains committed to delivering patient-centered healthcare that goes beyond treatment to encompass support, education, and wellness.

“With the hiring of Dr. Jambhekar, CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Cancer Center is now able to expand our services and offer even more comprehensive care for women with benign breast disease as well as breast cancer,” said Dr. Andrea Teague, Vice President of Cancer Services for CHRISTUS Health. “We are excited to be able to offer the only comprehensive breast care in northern New Mexico at this time.”

She added: “With Dr. Jambhekar and a team of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, plastic surgeons, social workers, nurse navigators, and clinical research trials, we are very excited to provide this integrated care to the patients and families we serve.”
