CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System has announced that David Karchut has been named vice president of mission integration to oversee and advance the mission, values, and Catholic identity of CHRISTUS St. Michael.
Karchut also will work with the Spiritual Care team to ensure spiritual care support is easily accessible for CHRISTUS patients and their families, Associates, medical staff, volunteers, and others at CHRISTUS St. Michael in Texarkana and Atlanta.
He will also serve as a conduit to faith leaders in the community.
“The courage and fortitude of our founding congregations across CHRISTUS left an indelible impression on my career journey,” Karchut said. “CHRISTUS St. Michael’s rich history and commitment to the community was the biggest draw for me, and the hospitality of everyone I meet has affirmed that this is where I am being invited by God to serve.”
Karchut previously served in mission integration at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System starting in May 2015 before taking the role of a mission integration leader for a health care system in Florida in November 2016. A graduate of Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, he holds a Master of Divinity degree with a focus on pastoral counseling, and a Master of Theology degree.
He has extensive experience with Catholic social teaching, ethical religious directives, community benefit, health-need initiatives, staff resilience, spiritual care, and palliative care. In addition to English, David speaks Spanish, Polish and French.
“CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System has been a community leader and partner for over 100 years,” Karchut said. “I hope to continue building on established relationships and growing partnerships with stakeholders who seek to empower healing and growth for all in the communities we serve.”
Karchut began his role on May 8.
