CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System is excited to announce that orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Jesse DeLee will be inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2023.
He is awarded with the Dave Campbell Contributor to the Game for his efforts in helping and healing players off the football field. As an orthopedic surgeon with decades of experience, he works to ensure the players are assessed, treated, and receive the best possible outcome.
“I am honored to be inducted into this year’s Hall of Fame class,” Dr. DeLee said. “Orthopedic sports medicine and the care of young athletes is my passion; it is rewarding to help these athletes get back to what they love.”
Dr. DeLee founded the first sports medicine clinic open on Saturday mornings, in south Texas in 1982. It provided care to high school athletes, playing all sports. He has also provided medical support for over a thousand high school football games and served as the chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee of the Texas University Interscholastic League since its inception in 2000.
Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. DeLee was awarded the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine’s Thomas Brady Award in 2020.
“We are so proud of the work Dr. DeLee has performed here for our patients,” said Sherry Fraser, president of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Alamo Heights. “He is a compassionate surgeon who continuously works to educate himself in providing innovative care to each person he serves. Dr. DeLee exemplifies our mission at CHRISTUS Health of extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ and we are blessed to have him on our team.”
Dr. DeLee and the entire new class of inductees will be recognized and inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in Waco on May 6 in a private event.
