CHRISTUS Health opened a new, permanent location for the Heart and Vascular Institute – Sulphur Springs with a ribbon-cutting and grand opening on Wednesday.
Located at 113 Airport Road inside the CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic Medical Plaza building on the campus of CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Sulphur Springs, the new location replaces the temporary clinic that was located on Medical Circle.
“We know that patients do not want to travel for care – it is something we have heard for years,” said Paul Harvey, president of CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Sulphur Springs. “When you look at our region, this clinic allows us to be a hub for heart care, so that world-class care is now available close to home.”
Providers will see patients in the newly renovated clinic that features eight patient exam rooms and three provider practice rooms with has access to the hospital cath lab, where doctors perform procedures and tests to diagnose and treat cardiovascular conditions.
Family nurse practitioner and Sulphur Springs native Nikki Collins said the addition and access to high-quality cardiac care is important for overall community health.
“It all starts with the heart. If you do not have a healthy heart, it all rolls downhill,” Collins said. “We have a patient population here that is really going to benefit from this type of care, right in their own community.”
Patients at the Heart and Vascular Institute – Sulphur Springs will also be tied into the greater CHRISTUS cardiovascular care network, which will allow for instant access of patient records, regardless of the CHRISTUS facility.
“Everything we are doing here is with the idea that patients do not have to leave here,” said Dr. Clyde Sanford III, chair of the Heart and Vascular Center. “We want to be your one-stop shop for cardiovascular care in the region.”
To schedule an appointment, patients can call (903) 438-8330.
