Tyler, Texas - World champion American swimmer, Olympic bronze medalist and native Texan Natalie Hinds will speak with youth athletes and coaches during a special CHRISTUS “Lunch with an Olympian,” on Saturday, Jan. 21.
The free luncheon is part of the “Girl Power Summit,” hosted by the Junior League of Tyler, and will be held on the first floor of the Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute in Tyler from noon to 1:30 p.m.
“CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances is proud to partner with the Junior League in bringing such a strong female athlete to our community,” said Jason Proctor, ministry president, CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital. “Not only is Natalie an Olympic medalist, but we also celebrate her character and her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.”
A Midland, Texas native, Hinds is a world champion swimmer who took home a bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
A graduate of the University of Florida, Hinds earned 20 All-American honors and made history at the 2015 Division 1 Championships as part of the first trio of Black swimmers to sweep the podium, taking first, second, and third in a single event.
Hinds also won gold medals at the 2022 World Aquatic Championships and the 2022 US National Championships.
Today, Natalie is an accomplished speaker, using her platform to share her inspirational story about her comeback after retiring from the sport in 2016.
“This is such a great opportunity for folks in our community to hear from and learn from such an accomplished athlete and person,” said Anne Pileggi, chief operating officer, CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital. “We want folks to listen to her story, get energized, and be motivated to reach the highest levels.”The luncheon is free and attendees are encouraged to RSVP, here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/lunch-with-an-olympian-tickets-507703062527
