CHRISTUS Health breaks ground on new health care facility in Mount Pleasant

CHRISTUS Health broke ground Thursday on a new, state-of-the-art health care facility in Mount Pleasant, expanding compassionate and exceptional care to the area.
Located at the intersection of Tankersley Road and Interstate 30, the 33,500 square-foot facility will feature a 15-bed emergency department with state-of-the-art imaging and onsite laboratory.
CHRISTUS Health – Mount Pleasant also will have dedicated clinic space that will house CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic providers in primary care, outpatient physical therapy, and cardiology with space designated for visiting specialists.
With representatives from CHRISTUS, the city of Mount Pleasant and Titus County in attendance, CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System President Jason Proctor emphasized the need for high-quality care in rural East Texas and the expansion of CHRISTUS’ footprint in the area.
“We have thousands of patients that choose CHRISTUS Health from Mount Pleasant and Titus County every year for their health care needs,” Proctor said. “This project will allow those patients and more in the future to access our emergency services and Trinity Clinic providers faster and easier.”
The facility will employ 50 full-time nurses and providers and has a projected completion date of winter 2025.
“Building this facility is a step in the right direction for the future of health care in Mount Pleasant,” said Dr. Jay Cannon, CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic family medicine provider in Mount Pleasant. “We already take care large number of patients in this area and we are only going to get bigger and better with this facility.”
Mount Pleasant is the latest expansion by CHRISTUS Health in East Texas. A new emergency hospital in Palestine in currently under construction, and a new cancer center in Longview was recently announced.
CHRISTUS Health will also be opening a free-standing emergency department in Henderson later this year.
“It is a major initiative of CHRISTUS to continue to identify areas where we can best serve the community,” said Chris Glenney, CHRISTUS Health senior vice president of group operations for Northeast Texas and North Louisiana. “This facility in Mount Pleasant represents our commitment to providing access to world-class health care and fits in perfect harmony with our mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.”
Construction in Mount Pleasant is underway with Quitman, Texas-based Jackson Construction serving as project lead.
