CHRISTUS Spohn Health System is excited to announce its new partnership with Cardiology Associates of Corpus Christi, a venture that will expand access to patients and offer a comprehensive approach to their care.

For over 35 years, Cardiology Associates of Corpus Christi (CACC) has provided cardiovascular services to the Coastal Bend community. This partnership gives CHRISTUS Spohn patients access to 10 cardiologists offering general, invasive and interventional services, as well as diagnostic services and therapeutic modalities.

CACC is joining CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic, a multi-specialty medical group of CHRISTUS Health with more than 1,200 clinicians spread throughout Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana.

“We are so thrilled to be able to offer even more specialty care services to the Coastal Bend community,” said Jennifer Beal, chief administrative officer for CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic. “Cardiology Associates of Corpus Christi has a long-standing relationship with CHRISTUS Spohn Health System, so this was a natural next step in building a comprehensive integrated network for the community.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control, heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women and most racial and ethnic groups in the United States. Additionally, the CDC reports one person dies every 34 seconds in the U.S. from cardiovascular disease.

“Heart disease can affect anyone, so it is important to have a comprehensive cardiovascular team in place,” said Dr. Mike Rodriguez, cardiologist with CACC. “As a larger specialty group, we have the collaboration and experience to draw on. Our team has the ability to treat a range of cardiovascular issues, including those with more complex and unique situations.”

CACC is committed to providing patients with the most advanced, state-of-the-art cardiology services, resulting in enhanced cardiovascular health and lifestyles for its patients.

“Our team of cardiologists pride ourselves on the innovative care we provide our patients,” said Dr. John Douglas Pappas, cardiologist and CACC president. “We look forward to being able to expand with CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic and the CHRISTUS Spohn Health System. With this partnership, we will be able to reach more people across the region and continue providing high-quality cardiac care to those who need it.”

Access to care is of the utmost importance to both CHRISTUS Spohn and CACC. Patients can be referred to CACC’s main office, near CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – Shoreline, or visit one of their satellite offices in Kingsville, Alice, Rockport and Beeville.

“Each decision we make impacts our patients and we do not take that lightly,” said Dominic Dominguez, chief executive officer for CHRISTUS Spohn Health System. “By expanding our services, we are able to ensure our patients get the care they need, where they need it and when they need it. We are committed to keeping our patients our top priority and provide them with the compassionate and accessible care they deserve. This partnership and all future service line partnerships we make between physicians, hospitals and clinics continue to enhance our ability as a health care system to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to the Coastal Bend and South Texas.”
