CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – South announced today it has expanded its emergency department. The hospital currently has a Level IV Trauma designation and is a Level II Primary Stroke Center.

The new state-of-the-art emergency department is nearly 19,000 square feet, which is more than triple its original size. It is fully equipped with cutting-edge technology and is staffed by a team of highly trained emergency physicians and medical personnel operating around the clock, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“I am so proud to be a part of this emergency medicine team,” said Jayne Knoll, clinical director for emergency care with CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi - South. “We are dedicated to the care of our loved ones, friends, and neighbors. Watching this department grow only means we will continue to provide excellent care to everyone we serve.”

CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi - South now has 27 dedicated emergency bays and rooms, focusing on privacy for patients and their families. The emergency department was also revamped to provide a comprehensive range of medical services, from advanced radiology and diagnostics to a Stat Lab. The lab will provide faster test results, expediting the diagnosis and treatment process for patients.

“This expansion has allowed us to provide more comprehensive care for our patients,” said Dr. Sean Hutzler, emergency department medical director for CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – South. “No one hopes to go to the emergency room or use emergency services, but of course, we hope that it’s available when we do need it. Our patients can rest assured that we have an incredible team in place that remains on standby at all times, providing exceptional care.”

The recent expansion of the emergency department expands CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – South’s commitment to excellence in advanced medical care and life-saving services.

“Our core mission is to ensure every patient who enters our facility receives the highest quality treatment and care,” said Lanell Scott, president of CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – South. “Whether it’s a broken bone or a more serious medical condition, our commitment is to deliver exceptional medial attention to each individual.
