The CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Foundation Women’s Board is a group of passionate, motivated women who work tirelessly each year to envision, plan and execute a unique series of fundraising events. The goal of the Women’s Board is to fund critical, often life-saving equipment and programs that ensure the women and children of Northeast Texas receive the best health care possible. Since 2005, the Women’s Board has raised over $4.3 million.

Today, CHRISTUS unveiled a new mobile mammography unit (MMU), which was funded by the Women’s Board. The MMU is projected to screen an additional 3,600 people per year, including many who are underserved or underinsured, by providing an additional, reliable unit that offers screenings throughout Smith, Wood, Cherokee, Franklin, Gregg, Rusk, Anderson and Henderson counties. The MMU will provide screening services, using innovative and top-notch technology, along with access to CHRISTUS’ integrated care if further diagnostics or treatment are needed at the Ross Breast Center. Our highly skilled team of board-certified radiologists and two fellowship-trained, board-certified breast radiologists provide compassionate, quality care to our patients at every stage of their journey.

“Our Women’s Board is very passionate about making a difference in the lives of women in our community,” said Robin Rowan, executive director, CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Foundation. “We are so grateful for this dedicated group of women who work so hard every year to the best health care is available.”

Studies show one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in her lifetime, which equates to a diagnosis, on average, every two minutes. CHRISTUS recognizes early detection is key and that there is an overwhelming need for more women to be screened, regularly for breast cancer.

“We are so excited to be able to offer more healthcare options to the community, who may not otherwise be able to access it,” said Judy Taylor, imaging manager, Ross Breast Center. “We always strive to provide compassionate and innovative health care to those we are blessed to serve. We’re bringing the same great care you would receive at our hospital, right to their own neighborhood. This is going to have such a huge impact on our community and surrounding region.”
