CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic Welcomes Dr. Umair Sohail
Sulphur Springs, Texas - CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic, part of the well-established CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System, is proud to announce the addition of Umair Sohail, M.D., to the highly trained Gastroenterology team in Sulphur Springs. A native of Pakistan, Dr. Sohail completed his medical school at Rawalpindi Medical College in Rawalpindi, Pakistan and has served as Chief Resident at St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis, a Transplant Hepatology Fellow at the University of Tennessee – Memphis and as the Chief Gastroenterology Fellow at the University of Missouri – Columbia.
“Coming from a family of engineers and businessmen, I kind of diverted from the prescribed route and pursued medicine. I always wanted to do something that could help take care of people and patients,” said Dr. Sohail. Dr. Sohail recently served as an assistant professor of medicine in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the UT-Health Science Center in Tyler. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Obesity Medicine.
“Pursuing gastroenterology was an easy decision because I have always liked to have a procedural skill set in addition to practicing medicine,” said Dr. Sohail “I enjoy taking care of patients with various gastrointestinal issues, performing procedures, and removing the precancerous lesions from the colon to prevent colon cancer is rewarding.” Dr. Sohail added that in addition to general gastroenterology and hepatology, he has a special interest in managing patients with inflammatory bowel disease. Currently, Dr. Sohail serves on the Chron’s & Colitis Foundation’s National Scientific Advisory Committee and served a three-year term on the American College of Gastroenterology Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.

Dr. Sohail will be seeing patients at CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic located at 107 Medical Circle in Sulphur Springs.
