CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System unveiled its new NorthPark Hospital today with a ribbon-cutting event and blessing.

CHRISTUS Associates, along with Gregg County and City of Longview representatives, gathered for the celebration of the new facility, located at 323 E. Hawkins Parkway.

“This has been a long-time in the making, several years in fact,” said Todd Hancock, president and CEO, CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System. “It is a privilege for us to be able to bring truly comprehensive care to our community.”

Attendees received tours of the new hospital, which includes more than 28,000 square feet of new space for clinical services, surgical services and procedures, and an additional 15,000 square feet of clinical care shell space for future growth.

Located adjacent to the CHRISTUS Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute, the NorthPark Hospital features six state-of-the-art surgical suites, expanded clinic space, outpatient procedure rooms and patient rooms for overnight stays.

“There was a time when patients were having to leave our area to get the specialty care they needed,” said Dr. Stephen Littlejohn, chief of orthopedics. “That is no longer the case. We know our patients are going to be thrilled to learn that everything they need, from consult to diagnosis, surgery to rehab, can be done right here at home.” Hancock made a specific point to thank the community for their support of the NorthPark endeavor.

The CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Foundation raised $1.5 million in community donations to fund the project.

“To our community, we say thank you. Thank you for believing in CHRISTUS and thank you for allowing us to be part of the community,” Hancock said. “We are here to serve the community, and this state-of-the-art facility reinforces our commitment to Longview and surrounding areas.”
