Meet Carmen Varin, MD

C. Richard Varin, MD, joins the expert team of colorectal surgeons at CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic in Corpus Christi, Texas, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience in managing a variety of colorectal disorders.

Dr. Varin completed his undergraduate education at Rhode Island College in Providence, RI, with additional studies at Brown University. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT. Following his medical education, Dr. Varin completed his general surgery residency at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, TX, and his colon and rectal surgery residency at SUNY-AB, Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, NY.

Dr. Varin is board-certified in both colon and rectal surgery and general surgery, and his expertise encompasses a broad spectrum of conditions, including anal fissures, hemorrhoids, diverticular disease, and diverticulitis. He is skilled in the management of complex cases involving inflammatory bowel disease, such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as colorectal malignancies including rectal cancer and colon cancer surgery. Additionally, he performs advanced procedures including appendectomies and colectomies and utilizes colonoscopy for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Varin served in the United States Air Force Medical Corps, which has further enhanced his commitment to providing exceptional care. His extensive training and board certifications ensure that patients receive the highest standard of treatment for a variety of colorectal conditions.
