Orthopedic Surgery

About

Dr. Covington is a native Texan from the greater San Antonio area. He attended Canyon High School where he graduated valedictorian and went on to Texas A&M University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering. His training took a brief detour when he was pursued by National Instruments, an engineering company, that used Dr. Covington’s skills as a Biomedical Engineer to help organizations such as NASA develop large scale automated systems. During this time as an engineer, he was able to realize his true desire to serve patients directly and made the decision to further pursue medicine.

Dr. Covington returned to San Antonio for Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center. With his engineering mindset and love for construction projects, Orthopedic Surgery was a natural choice for Dr. Covington. He completed Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital, recently ranked in the top 10% of hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery by U.S. News and World Report. It was here where he received extensive training in all aspects of musculoskeletal care by some of the top surgeons in the Orthopedic Trauma, Adult Reconstruction, Foot & Ankle, Upper Extremity, and Sports Medicine fields.

His practice encompasses multiple sub-specialties by addressing both the operative and non-operative treatment of the most common orthopedic conditions affecting both the upper and lower extremities.

He is married to wife, Lauren (a native of San Antonio), and has three children. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, household construction projects, working out, hiking, hunting, and saltwater fishing on the Texas coast.
