Douglas Stoddard, M.D. is committed to providing comprehensive surgical care for patients in San Marcos, Texas. He brings a wealth of experience as a general surgeon, with expertise in robotic surgery, bariatrics, and acute care.
Dr. Stoddard served in the United States Army for 15 years as a general and acute care surgeon, chief of general surgery, 3SL researcher, and more. As a result of his service, he received a multitude of military honors, including the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal—Iraq, and Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal—Kuwait.
In addition to these accomplishments, Dr. Stoddard speaks four languages: English, Japanese, Spanish, and Vietnamese. He has countless journal publications and presentations on surgical topics as well as military medicine. He continued to pursue his path as a trauma, acute care, and bariatric surgeon after his time in the military, becoming a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and joining the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).
Dr. Stoddard is board-certified in general surgery. He completed his General Surgery Residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA, and earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA.
