Fred Perkins, MD
Pediatric Neurology
About
Growing up in a military family with a special needs sibling inspired Dr. Fred Perkins, who developed a deep compassion for families navigating the healthcare system. “As a family, we experienced multiple moves and many medical challenges. The city of San Antonio and the military community helped shape my perceptions from a young age. The value of working together to protect those who can’t protect themselves is deeply ingrained in me,” he says.
Growing up, Dr. Perkins was fascinated by technology, science, and network systems. This led to an interest in neurosciences, medical school, residency, and fellowship. His goal is to help children with neurological problems, especially epilepsy and autism, attain the highest quality of life possible. “I have been fortunate to work with very talented and dedicated people – which continues to this day,” Dr. Perkins says.
His wife is a pediatrician, and they have one child studying horticulture at Texas State University. Dr. Perkins enjoys gardening, baking, and being outdoors in his spare time.
