Meet James Baker, MD

James Baker, MD specializes in disorders of the musculoskeletal system. In private practice for over twenty years, he has experience and expertise in treatment of shoulder, hand and wrist problems, knee disorders, and fracture surgery. He has performed hundreds of total knee and hip replacements, and also sees patients for foot and ankle disorders.Growing up in Lexington, Kentucky, Dr. Baker graduated seventh in his class from Sayre School. He then served in the U.S. Army in Germany for three years and received his medical degree from Tulane School of Medicine, was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and then completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Baylor in Houston. He then traveled to San Antonio and subsequently to Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi serving four years inthe Air Force to pay back a military scholarship to medical school before beginning his practice in Louisiana.In 2005, after hurricane Katrina destroyed his office building and hospital in Louisiana, he moved to San Marcos, Texas.
