Meet James Booker, MD
Dr. Booker received his medicaldegree from the University of South Florida in Tampa. He also completed his residency in General Surgery at the University of South Florida. During this time, he was named the Outstanding Surgical Resident
Dr. Booker has practiced general surgery in Texarkana since 2003. After his undergraduate education at Duke University, he completed medical school and his surgical residency at USF. He taught one year at USF and then practiced near Tampa for 13 years. Dr. Booker's over 30 years of experience in general surgery enable him to provide compassionate and quality care in all areas of general surgery. Dr Booker has a strong interest in breast and trauma surgery.
Dr. Booker completed a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Public Health with Honors at UAMS while practicing in Texarkana. His interest in public health prompted him to spend several years as one of the leaders of the Arkansas Trauma system. During his tenure with the Arkansas Department of Public Health, he spent a great deal of time providing trauma education throughout the state of Arkansas.
Dr. Booker has a strong interest in yoga and is a 500 HR Registered Yoga Instructor with Yoga Alliance. He and hiswife Lauren, own and teach at One Love Yoga in Texarkana. The couple has four successful adult children.
