Dr. Jerome Schrapps has spent the last 15 years of his professional life devoted to the care of patients suffering with obesity. He has performed 3,000 bariatric procedures including: Sleeve Gastrectomy, Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass, Lap Band and revision procedures.
He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and a fellow of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Schrapps is a diplomat of the American board of obesity medicine. He’s only one of approximately 200 surgeons nationwide to hold this title.
Dr. Schrapps has served as the medical director of the Christus Southeast Texas Bariatric Center since 2010. He believes strongly in bringing a multi-modality approach to the treatment of obesity. This means not just using surgery, but also medication, along with a comprehensive diet and lifestyle modification program.
