Phyllis Ramirez, M.D., a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, earned her medical degree and completed a psychiatry residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX, followed by another psychiatry residency at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, WA. In addition, as an assistant professor at The University of Texas at Tyler, she was elected by the Psychiatric Residency and received the "Distinguished Faculty Award" in both 2022 and 2023.
Dr. Ramirez's expertise in behavioral health enables her to thoroughly evaluate your condition, assess your needs, and provide tailored diagnoses and treatments. She believes, “Patient care begins with a thorough evaluation of the patient as experienced within a sociocultural context, and treatment must take into account all of these factors for increased outcomes to be realized.” She is known to treat the following in adults: depression, anxiety disorders (panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder), bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), substance use disorders (alcohol use disorder, opioid use disorder, and stimulant use disorder), personality disorders, and sleep disorders.
