Sara del Campo de Gonzalez, MD, FAAP, is a primary care pediatrician at CHRISTUS Children’s. She is part of the Complex Care team that coordinates care for children with complex medical conditions.
Prior to joining Children’s, she served as medical director at the Young Children’s Health Center, a community-based clinic of the University of New Mexico (UNM). As director of the Advocacy Program in Pediatrics for UNM, she had the opportunity to educate pediatricians-in-training in advocacy and community engagement. Her special interests are in trauma- and resilience-informed care, early childhood development and advocacy. Just prior to beginning her position with Baylor College of Medicine and CHRISTUS Children’s in December 2021, she served the Harvard Center on the Developing Child in providing expert consultation, connections and thought partnership in support of the Center’s strategic planning.
Special interests/areas of expertise: trauma-informed care, excessive childhood stress activation, resilience and protective factors, early childhood development and advocacy.
