Welcome

Welcome to the CHRISTUS Health Graduate Medical Education webpage. The Institute of Academic Medicine at CHRISTUS Health aims to provide our >200 talented trainees with an outstanding experience of academic excellence at all levels by not only meeting but also exceeding the national and institutional standards. The Sponsoring Institution GME Office provides crucial, comprehensive, and quality services to all of our applicants, trainees, program coordinators, faculty, and program directors. To promote all-rounded wellness, well-balanced development, and holistic growth, we remain committed to providing our trainees with high-quality resources and superior curriculum for their physical, nutritional, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual health. We take pride in fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion; these fundamentals underpin our core mission, and guide our interactions with trainees, faculty, patients and communities we serve.

Our Institute of Academic Medicine remains focused on providing an optimal environment of learning, inquiry, research, and scholarship. Our dedicated faculty foster an atmosphere of individual attention by taking time to know our trainees personally, closely understanding their individual academic interests and learning needs, and ensuring each trainee’s career and professional success.

Our Institute of Innovation and Advanced Clinical Care provides our trainees and faculty with hands-on and experiential opportunities to participate in scholarly activities and clinical research studies. These unique learning experiences of our trainees help them to cultivate an ongoing culture of clinical innovation and scientific advancement, well beyond the residency into years of real-world clinical practice.

Our Interdisciplinary Simulation Centers offer our trainees state-of-the-art recreations of clinical events and potential patient complications in a safe and controlled environment to test their readiness to appropriately recognize and respond to changes in patient conditions using sophisticated life-like mannequins, task trainers, and standardized patients.
