CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Offers Local Students the Chance to Operate State-Of-The-Art Surgical Robot November 15, 2019

WHAT: Students from Spring Hill, Longview and Hallsville will have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to operate a state-of-the-art, multi-million-dollar da Vinci Robotic Surgery System to decorate a holiday display!

WHO: Surgeon Dr. Dustin McDermott and the CHRISTUS Good Shepherd surgical team, advanced practice providers, nurses and physicians welcome the students.

WHERE: CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Medical Center - Longview lobby, located at 700 E. Marshall Ave.

WHEN: Monday, Nov. 18, 2019
9:00 a.m. – Spring Hill ISD Robotics Club Students
1:00 p.m. – Hallsville ISD Students
2:00 p.m. – Longview ISD Students

WHY: The surgery team at CHRISTUS Good Shepherd is giving people the chance to try out and experience first-hand the special skills it takes to work with the daVinci Xi Surgical Robotic system.

ABOUT: The da Vinci Surgical System is a surgical platform designed to enable complex surgery using a minimally invasive approach. The system in use at CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Medical Center - Longview consists of an ergonomic surgeon console, a patient-side cart with three or four interactive arms, and a high-performance vision system. Powered by state-of-the-art technology, the da Vinci Surgical System is designed to scale, filter and seamlessly translate the surgeon's hand movements into more precise movements of the system.
