Longview, Texas – Stroke patients at CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System have another reason to feel confident they are receiving the best care available. Jennifer Reeves-Reed, RN, MSN, ASC-BC, Stroke Program Coordinator, has become one of the first caregivers in the nation to earn the Advanced Stroke Coordinator Certification from the Associate of Neurovascular Clinicians (ANC).
This certification verifies that Reeves-Reed has met the rigorous qualifications supporting this board examination. She was part of the first class of this kind offered by the ANC, is the first CHRISTUS Associate and one of only three Texans to be certified.
“The Advanced Stroke Coordinator certification is a unique and prestigious honor for our team,” said Shelly Johnson, Chief Operating Officer, CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System. “This certification truly highlights the exceptional level of coordinated, high quality care our stroke team provides our patients. We are extremely proud of Jennifer’s accomplishment and her dedication to ensuring our stroke program follows the evidence-based, national guidelines.”
From community and staff education, to analysis of complex data, policy and procedures, to implementing plans to improve care for patients, the stroke coordinator is integral to patient outcomes and an institution’s stroke program.
“As a stroke coordinator, I am passionate about educating our teams and this community about stroke care because it means that our patients get the best treatment as quickly as possible,” said Reeves-Reed. “Every day we look for ways to get better, work smarter and do all we can to positively affect our patients’ lives.”
