Mothers' Milk Bank of Austin
The Mothers' Milk Bank of Austin screens, pasteurizes, and tests donated milk before it is dispensed by a doctor's prescription to hospitalized premature and ill babies and sick babies at home.
CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - New Braunfels is a milk collection site serving the Mother's Milk Bank of Austin. Healthy mothers who are breastfeeding their own baby and have an abundant milk supply may donate their surplus breast milk to the depot. Volunteers donate without reimbursement to help save fragile infants. Thirty-eight donors have given 26,713 ounces of breast milk at this site since it was established. Donated milk in New Braunfels goes to babies in Texas, including the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children's Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and to other locations in the United States to provide a safe alternative when mom's own milk is not available.

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - New Braunfels has received the IBCLC Care Award from the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners and the International Lactation Consultant Association. All of our lactation consultants are certified by the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). These groups have recognized our accomplishments as a facility that hires International Board Certified Lactation Consultants and has a dedicated lactation program, an initiative that protects, promotes, and supports breastfeeding and provides breastfeeding training for staff.
