CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Winnsboro Welcomes New CEO November 7, 2016

WINNSBORO, TX – A new era of health care leadership has begun at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital - Winnsboro with the appointment of Shelly Johnson, RN, BSN, MPA/HCA, to the position of Chief Executive Officer.

Johnson has served the people of East Texas since 2004, when she joined CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System in Nursing Services. Johnson held a variety of leadership positions for over 12 years in nursing services and brings over 25 years of Nursing and Administrative experience to her role.

“Having been a part of CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System for more than a decade, I have seen firsthand the importance and value of providing health care to our communities with a focus on safety, quality and constantly improving access to much-needed services,” said Johnson. “As CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System grows throughout Northeast Texas, I am incredibly excited to be a part of bringing the region’s preferred health care provider to the people of Winnsboro and the surround areas.”

Janet Coates, RN, BSN, MA, who served for seven years previously as the first CEO of CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital - Winnsboro, retired this September. During Coates’ tenure, the hospital added and expanded a number of services and increased the number of distinguished health care providers and visiting specialists serving the Winnsboro area. Today, in addition to primary care, medical services at MFH Winnsboro include Anesthesiology, Blood Services, Breast Health, Cardiology, Coronary Calcium Scoring, Diabetes, Emergency Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Endoscopy, Hospitalist, Hospitalist Provider Services, Infusion Therapy, Lab Services, Nutrition Services, Orthopedics, Physical Therapy, Sleep Medicine, Sports Medicine, Surgery, Tests and Imaging, Urology and Wound Care.

“At a time when many places in the U.S. are lacking local providers, we were grateful to be able to provide an expanded level of care to Winnsboro and those who live in the surrounding area," said Coates. "It has been my privilege and pleasure to serve the community for almost seven years as CEO of the hospital. Winnsboro is a special place and I have met many wonderful people, and I will miss my friends here."

"Since our first efforts into the area, the people of Winnsboro have accepted CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System into the community and we are glad to have them as part of our family," said N. Todd Hancock, Senior Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, Regional Operations Division, CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System. "We are incredibly pleased with the progress and success of CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital - Winnsboro, and are proud to recognize the quality care they have continued to provide to this region over the past years under the direction of Janet. Coates. We are certain that the high standards of care, numerous awards they have earned and the stellar patient satisfaction scores are just the beginning of many years of continued growth and success as we move forward under the leadership of Shelly Johnson."
