TYLER, TX – The Ross Breast Center at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System has maintained the high standards necessary to be re-accredited as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, ultrasound-guided breast biopsy and breast MRI.
“This is an incredible honor for the physicians, technical staff and the entire team at the Ross Breast Center,” said John Larrinaga, M.D., Director of the Ross Breast Center at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System. “But more importantly, this is a wonderful thing for our patients. When they come here, they can be assured of receiving truly world-class care in an environment that is welcoming and with a staff that is expertly-trained and compassionate.”
This ACR designation is awarded only to those imaging centers that have achieved ACR accreditation in stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy, breast MRI and mammography. Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that this facility has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.
“Though we have had this designation for several years now, the standards have increased to also require formal accreditation in breast MRI, and CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System offers that service to our patients,” said Natalie Hanson, R.T., (R) (M), Team Lead at the Ross Breast Center at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System. “Each and every day we try to go above and beyond what is simply required for our patients, and this accreditation is proof of the phenomenal quality of care available to the people of Northeast Texas.”
The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 36,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
