Workplace Violence Facility Response Plan - Key Points
CHRISTUS Health strictly prohibits and does not tolerate workplace violence. We will not tolerate acts of violence including but not limited to:
- Bullying
- Battery
- Mutual combat
- Intimidation
- Threatening
- Hostile behaviors
- Stalking
- Abuse
- Vandalism
- Possession or use of weapons
- Comments regarding intended violence
Or any other conduct that management deems as violent or violative of the dignity and respect of others.
- Please report any type of verbal threat or physical assault to your supervisor and security immediately.
- Call Security at 903.606.4272 or the Emergency Line at 903.606.4000
- Call the Safety Hotline at 903.606.4723 – anonymous reporting
- Please complete a Safety Event Report in Vigilance and notify the following: their supervisor, security, and occupational health – if injured
- The Associate has the option to press charges with the full support of the hospital administration
- The Associate, if needed, may request free assistance from the Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- Training will be provided to recognize escalating behavior or recognition of warning signs or situations that may lead to assaults
- Once a patient is deemed as violent or potentially violent the “Safety Marker” will be placed on the outside door frame, upper right corner. The magnetic “!” will be placed on the doorframe to warn all Associates that the patient has a propensity for violence and should proceed with caution. Those who can make this decision include:
- The house supervisor
- Unit charge nurse
- Security supervisor
