Gastrointestinal Motility Program

If your child is struggling with a complex motility disorder, CHRISTUS Children's neurogastroenterology and motility disorders program provides advanced evaluation and personalized treatment. Our team has extensive experience in diagnosing and managing motility and neurosensory disorders that affect the intestinal tract, ensuring your child gets the care they need. Services include the assessment of neuromuscular issues related to the anus, rectum, and pelvic floor.

Some of our most common motility procedures include:

  • Colonic manometry: Evaluates severe constipation and recurrent fecal impactions
  • Antroduodenal manometry studies:  Evaluates gastroduodenal motility disorders, which can cause chronic nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain
  • Anorectal manometry studies: Helps diagnose constipation and Hirschsprung's disease
  • Other procedures: Esophageal manometry, cecostomy tube placement and management
