CHRISTUS Health is excited to announce our expansion to Palestine with the development of a new emergency hospital campus. This new facility will include a freestanding emergency department and inpatient beds, enhancing our ability to provide comprehensive care to the community.

The new facility will be situated on the existing Magnolia Medical Plaza at 3201 Texas 256 Loop in Palestine. Magnolia Medical Plaza has been a trusted provider of primary care since it joined CHRISTUS in 2017. Currently, there are six physicians, four nurse practitioners and four physician assistants practicing in Palestine. Along with full-time orthopedic surgery and pain management, the clinic also offers specialty services including cardiology, pulmonary, gastroenterology and wound care.

“Our clinic has been serving Palestine and the surrounding communities for more than 30 years and the addition of emergency medicine will only enhance our ability to care for patients today and for many more years to come,” said Dr. Alec Law, the lead physician of primary care.

Our Palestine project includes a nearly 20,000 square-foot facility that will house a state-of-the art emergency department with imaging and laboratory services, capable of accepting ambulance arrivals. Additionally, we will also be adding inpatient beds at this facility, so that patients can stay close to home for acute hospital care.

“We have had a footprint in Palestine for a number of years now, and this is a great way for us to continue to extend our health care mission to the community,” said Chris Glenney, the senior vice president for group operations at CHRISTUS Northeast Texas. “We know there is a need for patients in the Palestine area to have access to our health system and the exceptional health care we provide. We are honored to meet that need and continue our mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.”

In recent years, CHRISTUS Health has expanded patient access in the Northeast Texas communities of Athens, Atlanta, Canton, Gladewater, Henderson, Kilgore, Lindale, Longview, Marshall, Mount Pleasant, Sulphur Springs, Texarkana, Tyler and Winnsboro.

Our new facility will provide the community with 40 full-time jobs which include registered nurses, radiology and laboratory technologists and several other support staff positions.

This type of access will allow the residents of Palestine and the surrounding communities the opportunity to get the care they need in a timely manner without having to leave the region to do so.”
