CHRISTUS Spohn Health System announces the addition of several well-known surgeons

Providing more access to needed care for patients in the Coastal Bend region

CHRISTUS Spohn Health System is excited to announce it is expanding its access to life-saving surgical procedures for the Coastal Bend community with the addition of four surgeons in its CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic (CTC) network.

Together, these surgeons bring a lifetime of expertise and compassionate care and will allow more patients to receive the care they need.

The additions include a general surgeon and three colorectal surgeons:

  • Matthew J. Ficenec, MD
  • Tara Hahn, MD
  • Christian Hirsch, MD
  • Carmen Richard Varin, MD

Dr. Matthew Ficenec is a general surgeon and has nearly 30 years of experience. He has been in private practice in the Corpus Christi area for many years.

In addition, Drs. Hahn and Varin are colorectal surgeons from Colon & Rectal Associates of South Texas. Dr. Christian Hirsch is also joining the team from his private practice to provide comprehensive colorectal care within the CTC network.

“These clinicians are exceptional at what they do,” said Dr. Orel Everett, chief medical officer for CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic in Corpus Christi. “We are blessed they are joining our team and network of care. With the addition of these surgeons, we’re able to ensure our patients get the care they need without needing to wait.”

These physicians joined CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic effective Sept. 1.
