Application Process

The CHRISTUS Health/Texas A&M University School of Medicine Program – Family Medicine Residency is a three-year, ACGME accredited program (ACGME Program ID: 1204822303). The program participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) therefore one must be registered with the NRMP.

All Applicants

  • Applications accepted via Electronic Residency Application Services (ERAS)
  • Dean’s letter and medical school transcripts (original transcript required for program processing)
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Medical school completed within the last year of residency start date. Cut off one year out of medical school.
  • Maximum one failure with either licensing examination, USMLE/COMLEX. In order to be ranked must provide documentation of passing USMLE Step 2 or COMLEX Level 2
  • Deadline for application submission is December 1

For International Medical Graduates

  • ECFMG certificates must be received prior to the start of Residency. Please plan accordingly.
  • Applicant’s medical school must be listed on the Texas Medical Board Substantial Equivalence List. Schools whose graduates have demonstrated substantial equivalence of their education.
  • J1 or H1 visas not sponsored. If authorized to work in the United States must provide green card or documentation of employment authorization.
  • U.S clinical experience with a board certified family medicine physician and a letter of recommendation from the physician
