From the program’s inception, the focus on Quality Improvement and Clinical Research as part of the curriculum has annually earned our residents multiple awards at various scholarly activity events. Each resident is responsible for leading one QI or Research project over the course of their residency, and will present by PGY-3 at our annual Scholarly Activity Day. Our teaching faculty mentor these projects as part of their continuing medical education and practice. Many of the resident-driven Quality Improvement projects presented over the years have resulted in cost-savings for the hospital, improved patient safety outcomes and higher patient satisfaction.
