CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – Shoreline

CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – Shoreline was established in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1905 and is the largest facility (556 beds) and foremost acute care medical center in the region. It offers South Texans a full range of diagnostic and surgical services. The Pavilion at Shoreline houses the CHRISTUS Spohn Heart Network which was recently recognized as one of the top 100 cardiovascular hospitals in the United States. The Heart Institute offers the most advanced diagnostic, surgical and rehabilitative cardiac services in one convenient location. Emergency medicine residents enjoy working in a brand new emergency department with high patient acuity and a large number of patients who require critical care. This hospital is the regional trauma, cardiac and stroke center for Corpus Christi.

CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – South

Located in the growing south side of Corpus Christi, CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – South is our secondary training site. This 158 bed hospital is the location for our second emergency medicine and OB/GYN rotations. The ED experience at South compliments the experience at Shoreline, where residents treat more routine ED complaints. In addition, this campus provides expanded exposure to community emergency medicine and women’s health.

CHRISTUS Children'sExterior of The Children's Hospital of San Antonio

CHRISTUS Children's is a 200-bed tertiary pediatric referral center for central Texas. The ED is a 28-bed department with over 40,000 visits each year. PGY-II residents rotate in the ED for one block. Supervising physicians are all board certified in pediatrics and fellowship trained in pediatric emergency medicine. The EM residency provides a furnished apartment for the residents and CHRISTUS Children's provides the residents free food while on duty. This rotation provides our residents an excellent experience in the evaluation and treatment of pediatric illnesses and injuries and provides a complimentary experience to that of Driscoll Children's Hospital.

Driscoll Children’s HospitalDriscoll Children's Hospital

Driscoll Children’s Hospital is a 200-bed tertiary care referral center for South Texas, offering the most complex and comprehensive medical and surgical care for children. Driscoll Children’s Hospital has a 20-bed new Emergency Department with over 40,000 annual visits, a new 22-bed Intensive Care Unit, and a 40-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Emergency medicine residents rotate in both the Emergency Department and Pediatric ICU.
